Two things come to mind when thinking of a saintly person – equipoise and forgiveness.
Equipoise in the face of the changing nature of this space time reality, the essential nature of which is to show you the Creator Himself in and as the pair of opposites. Bhaana mitha can only be done if you see His hand in your joys as well as your disappointments.
Forgiveness – first for yourself and your so called negativities and then you can forgive things and people around you when they are less than perfect. A saintly person realises that even though he may be doing everything to be merged with his Creator in all his thoughts, deeds etc. there is still a possibility for mistakes because we are still flawed humans – this is true humility. And because the creator forgives us – main paapi tun bakhshanhar – he forgives others too. So who are we to hold on to others’ mistakes. Let go and let God.
And a saintly person always works for his own good while making sure it is the good of everyone else. Sarbat da bhala. He intends good for himself and others, does good for himself and others and wishes good for himself and others. His prayer always is – May all beings be happy.

The painting used is not updated for today. Saints today will not live a lie those in old days as depicted in the painting. They will be living today as working and engaging in today’s society. You can consider replacing it with photos of Bhagat Puran Singh helping the disadvantaged as an example.
